THE WEEKLY ROUND-UP (07/06/19)

Artist: Cronicle

Cronicle - Bruises

Your world is turned upside down and the monsters are coming, coming for you. Wrapping their slimy, greasy tentacles around your body before the light emerges and an angel comes to save you. That angel? That's Swedish sensation Cronicle, back with another bang.

Tove Lo - Glad He’s Gone
I genuinely don't know why I like this. As in, it's a fab song, it's not a guilty pleasure, I just can't pick out what it is about that makes me press replay so aggressively my phone shits itself. It's a fuckload of fun and stinks of summer. Have some of that.

Metronomy - Lately
It's been a while, ain't it? Dark and mysterious, slower than usual, but with a gritty determination to take off and land somewhere where Trump isn't President and Boris Johnson is merely chewing gum on the pavement.

King Princess - Cheap Queen
Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Soulful synth, 'Cheap Queen' is the latest single from King Princess. The bluesy but rich vocals guarantee you to fall into the track throughout the listen, and as King Princess discusses making grown men cry, all you can do is swoon through your rose-tinted shades. After coursing through my headphones and into my bloodstream, I’d have King Princess over Queen Liz any day.

Lightning Bug - Bobby
This is a demo, and it's bloody cool. It's got everything, a quality beat, nice dreamy vocals and a Bernard Sumner-esque guitar line, I mean what more could you possibly want? Fat Cat records are releasing a collection of the best demos they've received, so if this is anything to go by we are in for a real treat.

Froth - 77
A golden cut from the Golden Coast. Former Saint Laurent sound-trackers, Froth, are about as smooth as that statement. The mix has an electronic organ for god sake and a spray can beat, I mean come on, that is probably two of our favourite things. This is a big track. Its unique and its weird, we love it.

Bon Iver - Hey Ma
Basing a career on being able to bottle and sell nostalgia, Bon Iver released the gorgeous ‘Hey Ma’ on unsuspecting ears at All Points East last week. They’re back with a synthy, heartfelt track smoother than the sun on your skin and full of trademark dulcet electronic tones. It sits next to the chirpy piano gospel-esque track ‘U (Man Like)’ featuring Moses Sumney which moves slightly away from the Justin Vernon mixes you’re used to, but equally as dreamy.
