INTRODUCING: SPINDRIFT

Who are Spindrift? Take a stool, we’re gonna explain. It’ll only take five minutes don’t worry.

In 2009, they appeared with their debut LP, ‘The Legend Of God’s Gun’, a Western concept album. Since, they have continued this Western theme with three more LPs, and they're all pretty ridiculous.

The project, curated by actor, songwriter, producer and composer Kirpatrick Thomas began in 1992. Early doors, Spindrift were experimental and unrecognisable from their contemporary sound. As we entered a new millennium, they re-located and re-formed. They began to opt for a stylistic approach and evoked the spirit and sound of the Wild West, using influences from Spaghetti Westerns and Western Cinema particularly. It was this that led them to produce records that told the story of a Western film, predominantly using sound.

Last year, they released their latest LP, 'Ghost of the West', which is a piece of beauty. It infiltrates your mind with Western horse chases, 'The Matador and the Fuzz', as well as more emotional images of love and loss, 'Blood on the Saddle'. It perfectly merges the moods captured within most western films using clever instrumental arrangements, and real life sounds as well as diverse vocals. It's a piece of art.

If Tarantino produced these soundtracks, we’d be on the floor in amazement and awe.
