The Killers are getting a little bit ridiculous at the minute. They were already one of the best live bands around simply due to the quality of their songs and Brandon’s over the top jackets. If you thought Dave Keuning and Mark Stoermer leaving would hamper their live performances, then you’ve never been more wrong. The Killers are on fire right now and no band in the world can match what they’re doing.
It all started with ‘The Man’. A track full of arrogance and
bravado written out of insecurity and anxiety. It’s funky, addictive and
infectious as well as being the perfect way to not only announce the return of
one of the world’s favourite bands but if there’s a better track to kick off a
live show then we’d love to know. Imagine walking out to 20,000 people every
night and stomping around telling them you’re The Man under a shower of pink
confetti. It’s not fair.
Then we have the encore. An encore at a Killers’ gig already
contains two of the best songs of all time in ‘Mr Brightside’ and ‘When You Were
Young’ so is it even possible to make them better? Yes. Flowers has decided to
wear a full gold suit for every encore of the ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ tour and
flaunt it profusely by strutting along to ‘The Calling’ before delivering the
hits.
Ok so playing your songs how you wrote them is clearly too easy for The Killers nowadays. As the American leg of their world tour came to end they decide to funk shit up, opting for a delicious disco version of ‘Bling (Confession of a King)’. Of course, Brandon wore a silver shiny shirt to match.
It's not ok. The Killers are too good right now.
