We'll give you a minute to take that in if you hadn't already heard. It's definitely worth a listen and it's not awful. That's a lie, it's horrendous.
After the introduction it becomes fairly passive. You don't really notice it, it sounds ok.
The introduction is horrendous however. Lead singer Patrick Stump throws out a couple of 'oohs' before the famous riff takes over and restores some order. It's just bizarre. It makes Portugal. The Man's cover of 'Don't Look Back In Anger' look decent.
We all love a good cover, even the ones that look a risk at first. Arctic Monkey's 'Love Machine', was similar to Fall Out Boy's choice, it looked questionable on paper but AM pulled it off. Even Dua Lipa's 'Do I Wanna Know?' cover may have seemed a risk, taking on a song of such magnitude, a vocal as strong as Alex Turner's. Lipa did it and did it well. Fall Out Boy have had a nightmare here and there's no turning back from it now.
