PREDICTION: TRANQUILITY BASE HOTEL & CASINO

There's so much panic and anxiety around this new Arctic Monkey's record that people are clambering onto any video clip, or any potential leaked version in order to get the first listen. It's an album bound to divide listeners as the Monkeys steer towards a path laden with pianos, strings and LA stories, leaving their Sheffield days behind them once and for all.

As the doors open to Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, fans flock to peak inside and discover the secrets Turner and Co. have laid before us. Without a single being released there is little way of knowing which direction AM have taken, According to the interviews however, it was nearly an Alex Turner solo record, which I'm sure you've heard by now. There’s been whispers it’s a record dictated by the piano, born in Alex's own home by an eight track demo tape. Many people are also convinced it leans towards The Last Shadow Puppets rather than the Arctic Monkeys. This is about all we have to feed off, until the real thing arrives in just a couple of days.

So, what do we expect? We predict it to be the most divisive record Arctic Monkeys have ever made. A marmite of sorts. We predict it will deter a number of fans who want the Monkeys to go back to their debut album roots despite living on LA beaches and dating supermodels, not quite the life they lived when writing 'Whatever People Say...', where a greasy kebab after a night at the local 'Spoons' is the highlight of the week. We expect it to be an album that doesn't capture your attention with ferociously dark riffs and roaring drum beats but rather invites you to lean in closer, pull out your magnifying glass and detect each song thoroughly, discovering a new secret with each listen.

With the record arriving on Friday there isn't long to wait to see if our prediction comes true. Whatever happens we're all excited to have Arctic Monkeys back in our lives and if you don't like their new stuff, at least there will be plenty of toilet break opportunities when you see them live.
