OPINION: THE WAR ON DRUGS' NEW RECORD IS A SLOW BURNER, BUT WORTH THE WAIT

It's taken some time. At first it was long and drawn out, even a difficult listen at times. Today however, 'A Deeper Understanding' has wormed its way into our hearts and is getting more perfect with each listen.

It's a journey for sure but one that paints a picture of a blossoming flower garden, where all the shades of pink spring to life. As far as instrumental arrangements go, few contemporary records can claim to be anywhere near the standards of 'A Deeper Understanding'.

It's a nutritious album. Full of all the good stuff. The ingredients are blended meticulously. Each song exhibits a collection of spices, each choice pondered over for hours before being added to the pot. Heart, emotion, blood, sweat, tears and a touch of rosemary have been thrown in to create this gentle giant of an album.

10 songs. 66 minutes long. Some may say it's a slog. We used to agree. Not anymore.
