OPINION/FASHION: IZZY PHILLIPS, FUTURE ICON

Black Honey are set for a huge year. They are preparing for their biggest ever headline tour this winter and today, they announced their debut album, now one of the most anticipated records of the year. At the helm of this quite incredible band is a person who we believe is set to become an icon, and global superstar.

Izzy B. Phillips believes she's the best person to lead this band, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who disagrees. Phillips is doing everything in her power to push this band to the top, whether it be producing a Hollywood-esque music video or designing the best merch in the game, including vinyl records in the shape of hearts, she's doing it all. She doesn't want any label to interfere and her hunger and desire are two of many reasons she is set to become an iconic figure.

As Black Honey's lead singer, Izzy Phillips has it all. A ferocious guitar player, she is more than capable of writing a whirring 5-star riff. Meanwhile her versatile voice has allowed Black Honey to experiment with their sound, ranging from western rock songs to acoustic ballads to 70s power pop. One minute she'll be screaming over a Dick Dale-esque riff, the next elegantly floating through tender ballad about crashing a vintage Cadillac.

She's also already perfected her onstage presence. Somewhere between Beatrice Kiddo, Mia Wallace and Alabama Worley, Phillips embodies the best parts of Tarantino's bad ass bitches. On stage, she commands attention from everyone in the room, playing with an air of nonchalance and great poise. The determination that drives every aspect of the band, from the songwriting to merch designing, is etched on her face throughout each performance, striving to make each show perfect, pouring out every emotion she's ever felt.

Her wardrobe is also overflowing with vintage threads, generally inspired by her favorite films, her bleach blonde beehive not too dissimilar from some 60s film stars either. Phillips uses fashion to add to the Hollywood imagery created by Black Honey's music. She has recently even died her hair electric blue, after changing Black Honey's social media icons to a similar shade of blue, hinting at an upcoming announcement in the only way Black Honey can, as extravagant and as glamorous as possible. This is a prime example of Phillips using fashion to add to Black Honey's aura, something which is crucial in the creation of a world-renowned superstar, and something we are certain she will continue to do.

As for Izzy B. Phillips becoming an icon, we think its a matter of time. To lead a band without the financial backing of a label is impressive and with the trajectory Black Honey are on, they're destined for greatness. Her versatile voice, onstage aura, serial determination, utterly fabulous wardrobe, and genuine adoration for all of her fans means she has all the ingredients to become an icon and role model for the ages. Black Honey have every ingredient to go to the top, and a leader who won't stop until they get there.
