Jade Bird somehow manages to make the most painful
experiences seem endurable with soothing lyrics and powerful, soulful vocals. After
2017’s stellar EP, Something American, few
expected Jade Bird to reach even higher heights however, her last 3 releases are
even more promising than anything you have heard from the singer before - a mix
of British pop and upbeat Americana, elevated with delightful lyrics. ‘Uh Huh’
however shows a completely different side to the singer-songwriter as she
inherits a compelling character that goes hand in hand with the powerful
prowess of her vocal. Similarly, in ‘Lottery’, she approaches a new style and
whilst the country sound is still profound, pop influences are infused throughout.
Meanwhile the most tender of the three, ‘Furious’, will get you through any
heart-wrenching-breakup. With a raw vocal that seemingly knows no bound, she
sings about an unfaithful ex-partner.
It’s rumoured that these 3 songs are just the start of an
album and if they are anything to go by, I am very much looking forward to
seeing what else the singer can bring to the table.
