Whilst Anna Calvi played opposite, so close in
fact that drummer Lauren Wilson was watching her on the big screen opposing her, Our Girl did
some shredding themselves. Having spent a year on the road since the release of their incredible debut album, the band have grown in confidence. So much so that their
set on the X-Stage appeared like a piece of piss. It’s so effortless with these
lot, so easy and simple, they barely need to look at one another to start the
next song, it’s almost telepathic. They get the balance between entertainment and
professionalism right, playing their tracks to the highest degree, but using
the breaks in between to play around, Lauren joking that singer Sophie
had gone for a costume change as she ran away for her forgotten capo. It was
all fun and games and rock’n’roll, it was brilliant.
