MANNEQUIN PUSSY FALL VERY SHORT

The explosive Mannequin Pussy return with their third LP Patience, an album filled to the brim with the thrashing riffs that have become all too familiar, but signal that there is more to their sound. The opening is an intriguing gateway into the heavier segment of the album, which ends up musically repetitive and lyrically mundane, ultimately making it difficult to keep your patience.

The bog-standard guitar whines and riffs longing for a mosh pit brings feelings of nothingness, a default setting rarely strayed from. Mannequin Pussy are at their best during the middle tracks, with a softer lyrical delivery over toned-down-heavy melodies. The potential for this album to be great is evident, but too easily have the lighter sounds been disregarded, a longing for adventure but a lack of desire. Yes, the band create a great noise but maybe it’s time to explore some alternate channels.
